Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Boston office.  This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a team of outstanding professionals.  This position offers tremendous potential for professional growth in a great working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to help our clients solve their most challenging problems.  Qualified candidates should be familiar with HCM methodologies, microsimulation platforms such as VISSIM and AIMSUN, conducting traffic analysis/studies utilizing Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, and similar analysis tools.  Familiarity with agency standards and protocols including MassDOT and local municipalities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or conduct traffic engineering tasks including, traffic impact analysis, developing data collection programs, conduct intersection improvement and corridor studies
  • Lead traffic simulation modeling tasks in VISSIM
  • Prepare traffic study reports and deliverables
  • Coordinate and deal directly with clients
  • Periodically organize and lead fieldwork effort with internal staff teams
  • Assist in developing traffic scope of work and associated fee estimates and other business development efforts
  • Coordinate with other departments and offices on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Participate in public meetings and information sessions as needed.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • EIT is required, PE registration in Massachusetts is a plus.
  • 4+ years’ experience in traffic engineering field.
  • Experience with MassDOT design policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Experience working with other Northeast agencies such as New Jersey Turnpike Authority, NJDOT, Port Authority of NY/NJ, NYSDOT, NYCDOT is a plus.
  • Transit planning experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment
  • Local Experience is highly preferred.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position.  A clean driving record is required.
