Job Description

Dewberry’s Orlando, FL office is looking for an Electrical Engineer/Senior Project Manager to support our General Engineering Consultant (GEC) contract in our Orlando, FL officeQualified candidates should have a solid background in electrical design, and roadway lighting.  Proficiency in the use of the National Electric Code, AASHTO Roadway Lighting Design Criteria, and associated design manuals is expected.

Capacity to independently review and/or prepare transportation related electrical designs and/or Roadway Lighting designs and familiarity with FDOT design standards and practices is preferred. Good oral and written skills are a necessity

Responsibilities

  • Review and design proposed Roadway Lighting Projects.
  • Review proposed ITS/PV projects power designs.
  • Review existing and proposed facilities power and back-ups designs.
  • Provide analysis, design and preparation of electrical engineering elements and plans.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in electrical systems including traffic signal systems, highway lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems engineering. 
  • Florida PE license required.
  • Previous design experience of roadway surveillance systems (CCTV, weather stations, weigh-in-motion sites, travel time systems, etc.) is desired.
  • Must have experience as an electrical designer for FDOT highway projects. 
  • Familiarity with Visual and/or AGI lighting design software is preferred.
  • Ideal candidate would have experience preparing technical and cost proposals for the electrical design components of various highway projects, as well as supervising junior engineers in highway lighting report preparation, lighting analysis and lighting design, traffic signal design and communications systems design (wireless and fiber optic). 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
  • Must be familiar with MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD.
