Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Department Manager for our growing water resources practice within our Raleigh, NC office. This position will encompass responsibility for all aspects of water resources services including personnel and project management, quality control, marketing and client interface.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project managers to manage all facets of projects from start to finish and ensure our services meet a high standard of quality.
  • Assist the project managers to manage contracts, project scope, progress reporting, schedule, resources, and budget. Train, coach and mentor water resources staff.
  • Lead business development with local client base and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Assist Business Unit Manager in achieving annual office marketing goals including proposals, presentations and market development for assigned market sector(s).
  • Assist Water Resources Service Line Lead in achieving annual marketing goals including proposals, presentations and market development. Support other water resources, disaster, emergency management, and mitigation planning projects, as assigned.
  • Effectively interface with clients and manage sub-consultants.
  • Lead all interaction with sub-consultants for water resources projects.
  • Perform technical review of water resources department staff.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in civil engineering, environmental sciences, geography or related field.
  • PE License in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within six months, is required.
  • 10+ years of escalating professional experience in water resources engineering, flood studies, and GIS.
  • Project Management expertise in local, state and federal level contracts.
  • High competency levels in multiple disciplines including hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain management, dam safety, master planning, GIS, stormwater design, steady state and dynamic modeling, water quality modeling, watershed assessment, stormwater utility development, infrastructure inventory, and stream restoration design.
  • Proven ability to effectively achieve positive results in marketing and business development including experience preparing proposals (technical and cost) for municipal and private clients.
  • Experience managing a team of professionals with a wide array water resources skills sets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Floodplain Manager Certification (CFM) is a plus.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
