Job Description

The Boston, MA Manager will be primarily responsible for the strategic development and growth, and overall operational performance of Dewberry’s operations in the Massachusetts/New England market.  Priority will be on building capacity and talent and growing the client base in growth areas and service lines:  Water/Wastewater and Transportation. 

 

The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer with a diverse engineering background and evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities.  The candidate will have clearly demonstrated expertise and success in managing and motivating multiple discipline teams, developing and executing client and business development strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth, and partnering with internal and external partners.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities, deploying Dewberry's deep national transportation portfolio to actively preposition for those opportunities and grow our local practice.  Must have at least 20 years of experience with MassDOT, similar public agencies or municipalities in the greater Boston market.  The candidate will be primarily responsible for collaborating with our current Transportation/Water leadership to generate inflow of new projects, develop and maintain close professional relationships with client personnel.

  • Interest and ability to leverage Dewberry's national transportation and water portfolio to grow our local practice.
  • The ability to manage complex projects.
  • Experience with selling and delivering design-build services.
  • Expert communicator, motivator and influencer.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong trusting relationships (internal to an organization and external with clients and teaming partners) for success.
  • Active involvement in leadership of industry organizations. Interest and ability to present at regional conferences, and lead teams to participation in other exposure activities.
  • Team player & mentor.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Minimum 20 years of experience with Massachusetts public sector transportation clients and projects including transportation, highway and roadway design, or closely related engineering field.
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree; advanced engineering degrees a plus.
  • Massachusetts PE.
  • 15+ years’ experience in project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
