Job Description

Dewberry has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Project Bridge Engineer in our Boston, MA office with 5-15 years of AASHTO bridge design experience. The successful candidate will oversee and participate in the design of simple and complex bridges (primarily of steel and concrete construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures and other miscellaneous structures). Bridge design work encompasses new and replacement bridges, and bridge rehabilitation. The work also includes the preparation of live load ratings of Vehicular and railroad bridges. The candidate will be responsible for and complete all phases of structural project development including planning, scheduling, inspection, analysis, design, development of contract plans, cost estimates, and technical specifications and reports. In-service bridge inspection experience is not a requirement of the position but is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns tasks to engineers, technicians or administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates aspects of work, and performs analysis and design.
  • Prepares scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments. 
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of bridge engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering license is preferred.
  • Experience with MassDOT and/or MBTA is preferred.
  • Ability use of computers applications, bridge engineering software and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software is preferred.
