Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for our MEPS Group in our Nashville, TN office. Typical projects involve private and public clients in completing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection projects in the Southeastern U.S. Duties will include but not be limited to the design, drawing production, specification writing, discipline coordination between the various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical design of lighting, power and communications systems for commercial, educational, municipal or healthcare facilities.
  • Supervising small to medium sized teams.
  • Modeling & Analysis of all electrical aspects of MEP systems.
  • Provide Technical Leadership to junior staff.
  • Review of MEP systems designed by others, interface with code officials and contractors, working with architects and clients, and working with others within the Dewberry Family of Companies.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Minimum two year technical degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years directly applicable Electrical design experience required.
  • Extensive lighting design including fixture selection and footcandle calculations.
  • Extensive knowledge of basic electrical load calculations, creating power riser diagrams, and power panel scheduling.
  • Fire Alarm system design experience.
  • Construction cost estimation experience including ability to recommend changes in cost estimates and scopes of work when necessary
  • Capable of editing electrical equipment specifications.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience in dealing with other employees and external clients.
  • Some travel will be required.
  • Interpreting engineering specifications and investigating problems. 
  • Coordinating work schedules and preparing progress reports.
