Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Assistant Department Manager Power Systems Engineer for our Birmingham AL office to specialize in power system analysis and design. This position offers significant growth potential. The successful candidate should have experience conducting power system analysis, designing protection and control systems, and leading projects. Experience modeling and designing medium voltage system is required. You will be joining a great team of experienced power system engineers operating within building services, higher education, infrastructure, healthcare, and water/wastewater industries.

  • Independently conduct power system studies utilizing SKM Powertool. Develop detailed report summarizing the results. Dewberry provides our client’s with a variety of power system analysis include the following.
    • Short Circuit Analysis
    • Coordination Analysis
    • Arc Flash Analysis
    • Load Flow Analysis
    • Power Factor Analysis
  • Lead multiple projects and manage a team of engineers in executing power system projects.
  • Mentor and train engineering in regards to power system engineering.
  • Develop protective relay settings. Experience with SEL relay are preferred.
  • Develop medium voltage specification for protection and control systems.
  • Develop engineering hour estimate and proposals for power system studies.
  • Assist in developing proportional material and conduct presentations.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS/BE in engineering or related degree.
  • EIT or PE is preferred but not required.
  • 7-15 years of power system studies experience.
  • Protection and Control design experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, IEEE 1584, and National Electric Safety Code
  • Good verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are essential for coordination with other disciplines, and client interface.
