Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Site/Civil Staff Engineer to join our Solar/Renewable Energy practice in Richmond VA office. The Staff Engineer will perform a variety of engineering functions focused on the solar/renewable energy market, including solar site design, site due diligence, site constraint mapping and permitting. This Staff Engineer must be flexible, able to work independently, technologically savvy, and remain client focused.

Civil/Site development including site grading design; roadway design; storm water management systems design; water design, water reuse design; erosion and sediment control design and permitting for the firms growing portfolio of solar clients.

Work with a Professional Engineer in preparing all associated drawing packages, deliverables, calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.

Collaborate on multi-discipline design teams to achieve project goals and deadlines.

The Work is fast-paced and diverse, ranging from general civil engineering duties to technical work that requires strong communication and capabilities in AutoCAD, Civil3D, PondPack, HydroCAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.

Position will require learning and becoming proficient in Dewberry engineering practices and standards, and other Dewberry-specific software programs.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT is required.
  • 2-8 years of design experience related to site development projects.
  • AutoCad required and Civil3D preferable.
  • Able to work on teams on different task and meets project deadlines.
  • Work in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Composes technical reports, permit documents, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.
