Dewberry’s Raleigh, NC office is currently seeking a Structural Engineer to perform and manage the design of Building Structures. In this role, you will manage structural staff to perform analysis on all design phases, structural modeling, structural calculations, and plan production.  This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to work with outstanding professionals.

Currently we provide full-service engineering services for buildings facilities and infrastructure projects. The structural engineering practice includes a fully staffed and mature Building and Facilities Structural Design Group, supporting engineering groups include MEP, civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering.

 

The Building and Facilities Structures Group has a varied resume, including commercial and institutional buildings, new construction, renovation and rehabilitation, higher education facilities, civil/site structures, waterfront structures, transit and rail facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants and energy projects. The majority of the client base is public sector, but a more diverse public-private balance is desirable. This group has delivered projects using both the design-bid-build and design build procurement methodologies. Technical tools and technical systems are in place including state of the art analysis software, quality control procedures, and production platforms including design standards and project delivery in BIM.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Structural Engineering Project Manager for Building design projects. 
  • Develop, perform, and manage building structural design. Work would also include structural evaluations of existing buildings.
  • Provide technical assistance and mentor structural engineering design staff.
  • Work with design team across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for structural construction plans.
  • Develop and maintain high-value client relationships.
  • Meet client deadlines and project budgets. 

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. 
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Specific experience preparing reports and design plans and specifications for building structure projects.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in North Carolina and Virginia, or ability to obtain them through reciprocity within one year of start date.
  • Familiarity with Revit and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
  • A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule and budget
  • Experience coordinating engineering work and interfacing with other disciplines and clients.
  • Experience using structural software such as RAM, RAM Elements, STAAD, Enercalc, TEDDS, or Tekla is preferred.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
