Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Civil Project Manager for major public clients in our New York City office.  The candidate will be responsible for the technical design and multidisciplinary management of complex projects with a range of construction values for infrastructure projects and should have at least 10-15 years of civil related design experience including project management.  The position anticipates established experience with NYCDDC, NYCEDC, NYCDOT, NYCDEP and NYCDPR on design projects.

 

The Civil Engineering Group independently pursues a wide variety of projects including site civil, street reconstruction, highway, transit, waterfront reconstruction, resiliency, multi-use pathways, traffic improvements, maintenance and protection of traffic, drainage, utilities (both public and private) and SOGR (state-of-good-repair) design.  Ability to coordinate with and support architecture and other engineering disciplines is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, mentors and assigns tasks to mid-level and junior engineers.
  • Prepares scope, budget, and schedule for projects or tasks within projects.
  • Manages project budget, schedule and performs technical quality control.
  • Leads multidisciplinary project pursuits and develops proposals for them.
  • As the project manager, coordinates with and manages work of other disciplines in the project, including Architecture, Structural, Geotechnical, Architectural, Environmental and MEP.
  • Communicates effectively with client and contractor to ensure goals are met.
  • Schedules, leads and attends meetings, conducts site visits/field inspections
  • As the civil lead, oversees, produces engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Reviews shop drawings and responses to RFIs from the client.
  • The successful candidate will also participate in business development activities including developing new client relationships, client presentations and other similar activities.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Project Management experience leading complex engineering projects is required including the ability to manage multi-disciplined teams is a plus.
  • 10-15 years of experience in civil engineering design, including experience with agencies such as NYCDDC, NYCEDC, NYCDOT, NYCDEP and NYCDPR on delivering constructed designs.
  • Working and active knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, Unified Stormwater Design, MS4/USWR, SWPPP, and NYC Building Code requirements related to civil discipline.
  • Working knowledge of civil design procedures, agency standards and permitting is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in developing engineering proposals.
  • Experience in developing scope, budget and schedule for projects.
  • Experience with Design-Build project delivery is preferred.
  • Must be a licensed NY PE. Additional PE license on other states including having a NCEES Record is also a plus.
  • Experience working with public agencies is required; working with the private sector is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Must be a self-motivated with initiative, drive and determination.
  • A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $155,000-$220,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
