Job Description

As part of Dewberry's succession planning process, we are seeking a Deputy Business Unit Manager for our Maryland Operation to provide leadership and manage a team of professionals working on a wide range of challenging Land Development, Industrial, and Public Sector projects. This is an opportunity for an individual to join a team of energetic, highly engaged staff in Dewberry’s growing Maryland Operation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of effective growth leadership, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work with clients, engineers and other technicians on a variety of civil engineering projects from planning through final design, and construction. With support from the enterprise, the successful candidate will be capable of business development activities, operations management, and oversight of technical deliverables.

Responsibilities

· Leadership of engineering project managers.

· Comfortable and successful with clients and business development.

· Ability to mobilize, energize, and organize cross-functional teams for success in winning and delivering complex projects.

· Strategic thinker, bringing market facing ideas and strategies, new service delivery methodologies, and expertise to decision-making and strategic planning.

· Highly motivated to achieve business goals while at the same time investing and building for longer term growth and stability.

· Understanding of project and office financials, and ability to teach them to staff.

· Powerful implementation and execution skills.

Required Skills & Required Experience

· Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

· Professional Engineering License in Maryland

· Minimum of 10 years of experience as a consulting engineer including experience working with clients and projects in Maryland.

· Understanding of the Maryland market; strong relationships with client decision makers.

 

· Strategic development and problem-solving skills plus goal driven energized by challenges.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong communicator, motivator, and influencer.

· Ability to serve as Project Manager on projects of significance.

· Demonstrated ability to build strong trusting relationships

· Ability to recruit, select, and develop staff.

 

The projected range for this position is $160,000 - $220,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

 

Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
