Dewberry is seeking a Project Manager in our Tulsa Oklahoma office to manage and direct a wide range of challenging transportation projects. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join a team of energetic and engaged professionals in Dewberry’s growing Transportation Service Line. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead engineers and designers on a variety of municipal street and highway projects from planning through final design, and construction. With support from the enterprise, the successful candidate will participate in business development activities, pursue new clients and potential project leads, and prepare technical proposals, project work plans, schedules, and fee estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an array of transportation projects for municipal and state DOT clients;
  • Manage detailed design projects while interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines, designers, and permitting specialists; 
  • Contribute to the continued growth of our Transportation Service Line through performing business development and client management activities, including proposal preparation, and client interaction through active participation in professional societies;
  • Effectively understand / communicate project expectations to project team and client;
  • Conduct QA / QC reviews of other projects;
  • Provide technical assistance and mentoring of junior staff;
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and actively participating in State and/or National professional societies through committee involvement and technical presentations;
  • Prepare and monitor project work plans, schedule and budget; and
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related field required;
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the transportation / roadway field;
  • Project management experience required;
  • Thorough knowledge and ability to apply theories, principles, concepts and practices of transportation engineering to the design and construction of municipal street infrastructure;
  • City of Tulsa municipal street design experience required, ODOT highway experience a plus; 
  • CFM certification preferred;
  • Oklahoma P.E. license in good or active standing preferred or ability to obtain P.E. license through reciprocity within one year of start date;
  • Demonstrate a successful track record in managing clients and developing new business;
  • Must have proven experience managing transportation projects, including development and monitoring of scope, schedule and budget;
  • Hydrology / hydraulic modeling experience a plus;
  • Capable of leading, mentoring and setting ethical standards for project team; and 
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
