Dewberry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Engineer for their Corporate Headquarters in Fairfax, VA. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Class A commercial office building operations, strong HVAC troubleshooting and repair skills, and outstanding customer relation skills.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • At least 5 years experience working as a Building Engineer in commercial Class A office buildings.
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of trade related apprenticeship program or trade school, or equivalent experience and education.
  • DC Class 3 Steam License or Virginia HVACR License.
  • Universal CFC
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in Class A commercial office building MEP systems operations, and predictive & preventive maintenance. 
  • Life/Safety Systems
  • Read, write, annotate, and interpret construction documents, blueprints, O&M manuals, specifications, cut sheets, and safety rules.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and adjust building mechanical systems.
  • Siemens BAS.
  • Air conditioning machinery and associated equipment.
  • Boilers, their accessories, and appurtenances.
  • Maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, controls, etc.
  • Plumbing and piping including water, gas, heating, and sanitary systems.
  • Electrical distribution, electric motors, high and low voltage circuitry.
  • Experience with data centers and related mission critical equipment preferred.
  • Perform general building maintenance i.e. restroom repairs, lighting, locks and keys, minor carpentry, and touch-up painting, etc.
  • Respond to tenant service requests in a timely professional manner.
  • Maintain shop, mechanical rooms, storage areas, etc. in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records as required.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment, as approved by the Chief Engineer.
  • Identify opportunities to operate the facility more efficiently.
  • Required to be on-call evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.
