Dewberry's Energy Solutions team is looking for a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician in any of the following locations; Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Costa Mesa CA, Denver CO, Fairfax VA. The successful applicant will be responsible for executing Energy Solutions Systems Integration projects, that will range in size and complexity, to achieve project deadlines and financial expectations. The role will require programming experience in setting up Building Automation Systems (BAS) software (block-and-line programming), Direct, hands-on experience with HVAC controls end devices with respect to type, function, wiring, signal conditioning, system design, etc. Reading and interpreting MEP construction plans and other technical documents. Installation, configuration and programming of components, application specific, and freely programmable controllers. Able to work independently and remotely to complete projects based on controls drawings, and other technical documents. This position will functionally report directly to a Unit Team Leader. This position requires significant client interaction. Significant tasks also include scheduling, document preparation, inspections and testing, report generation, problem resolution, quality assurance. Typically this position is filled by persons who have been continuously fulfilling on controls or integration projects for 5 years or more.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Associates Degree, 2 year technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical discipline specific to HVAC, Automation preferred. Highly desired technical training, certification and specific OEM experience. Experience with energy projects, facility engineering, HVAC and automated controls, required.

  • Direct experience in building automation, building controls, enterprise systems, and control protocol implementation and systems integration Ex: BacNet, LON, MODBUS, N2, Niagara, or OEM specific.

  • Demonstrated experience with HVAC Control, BAS, Energy Management systems electrical installation, construction processes and documentation is a MUST.

  • Ability to properly identify and apply control routines to equipment to be controlled (i.e. VAV, FCU, air conditioner, heat pump, gas unit heater, electric unit heater, radiant heater, and etc.)

  • Experience and ability to create graphic objects, points binding, web-pages,

  • Experience with data transfer methodologies (TCP/IP interchange, serial communications, wireless mesh networks, etc.)- Certification preferred in MS Networks

  • Development and production of equipment lists, points, lists for control systems integration work, controls installation or any combination thereof.

  • Able to perform site walk-thru, to assess work requirements for control systems integration work, controls installation or any combination thereof.

    • Reading and interpreting Scope of Work (SOW) documents
    • Development and execution of field work plans
    • Reading and interpreting Technical Specification documents
    • Assists development and production of Technical Specification documents.
    • Knowledge and experience with field measurement tools, multi-meter, Air Data meter, anemometer, flow hood etc.
    • Able to climb ladders, stairs, and lift minimum 40 pounds
    • Be able to pass a drug screening/background check upon request to work at customer sites.
    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Must possess a valid Drivers’ License
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels of an organization and effectively communicate with high profile customers.
  • As required – develop and deliver training on systems integration content.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly proficient with a PC including the Microsoft Applications- Excel, Word, Abobe (pdf)
  • Top candidates will have certifications in Tridium Niagara AX. JCI Metasys, Siemens Apogee, etc.
  • Willingness and desire to travel, and work independently.
