A registered design professional with primary responsibility for management of a large, single project or multiple projects under assigned client programs. Has primary management responsibility and secondary development and contractual responsibility for assigned projects.

Project managers supervise the timely completion of projects for which they are responsible. Project managers coordinate their assigned projects among all disciplines and outside subcontractors that may be involved. This coordination includes defining the scope of work, preparing a fee estimate and budget, and assigning manhour, cost and effort budgets to each Business unit authorized to work on the project. Project managers monitor and direct a project from its planning and design stage through construction completion, as well as maintain continual communications between the firm, client, and all disciplines. Must use reasonable efforts to assure that assigned projects conform to the commitments the firm has made to the client and that projects are completed on time and on budget.


  • Responsible for maintaining satisfactory client relationships through an appropriate and timely mix of communications.
  • Works in concert with Principal-in-Charge and/or Business Unit Manager to develop and negotiate fee proposals for assigned projects.
  • Leads development of project work plan including internal budgets, schedule, work assignments, the process of technical development, and coordination of both in-house and out of house disciplines.
  • Assigns duties to team and manages/leads team efforts.
  • Monitors communications between and among team members including outside subcontractors and takes corrective actions if necessary.
  • Assures that the Design Review Process is utilized.
  • Assures that the QA-QC Review Process is effectively utilized.
  • Assures that BIM Implementation Plans are utilized.
  • Initiates and reviews invoices and assists in the collection of past due accounts receivable.
  • Prepares cost to completes and estimates at completion to drive the firm’s revenue process in accordance with an acceptable tolerance for risk.
  • Monitors and, as authorized, executes contract modifications based upon changes to scope.
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains external project budget.
  • Documents and assures execution of all project goals.
  • Participates in the identification, review and capture of potential projects.
  • Performs duties while maintaining an agreed upon level of utilization.
  • Performs other related work as apparent or assigned.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Experience:     Minimum of ten years on projects similar to those currently undertaken by Dewberry.


Education:       Graduate from an architectural or engineering curriculum.


Registration:    Licensed as an architect or professional engineer where Dewberry offices are located.
