Dewberry is currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer in our Raleigh, NC office. Responsibilities primarily involve preparation of construction plans and design documents for federal, state and local governments; with emphasis on highway hydraulic design for NCDOT. Work assignments will also include hydrology and hydraulic studies that adhere to federal, state and local regulations. The work will require a knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics, strong computer software skills, and a desire to learn and be part of a team.


The position will provide flexibility for work assignments; schedules; interaction with clients, contractors, and construction projects; and the opportunity to grow professionally.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 0-4 years water resources experience.
  • EI or ability to obtain an EI within 6 months of starting.
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Experience with NCDOT hydraulics including; preliminary design reports, GEOPAK Drainage, BSR/CSR preparation, MOA submittal preparation, erosion and sediment control plans, and competency levels in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater best management practices, floodplain management, river hydraulics (including hydraulic design for bridges and culverts), design and construction techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HEC-2, TR-20, etc.
