The Bloomfield, NJ office of Dewberry is seeking a Traffic Engineer Intern for its Traffic Engineering Department.  Candidates who are eager to learn will perform Traffic Studies, Traffic Analyses and Traffic Engineering tasks such as Traffic Signal design following state and municipal design standards and practices.     

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare highway lighting analyses, plans and calculations for various agencies
  • Prepare highway lighting warrant study reports
  • Perform field investigations
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and quantities
  • Design Traffic Signals and signal timings per agency standards
  • Prepare Traffic Signal plans
  • Utilize the MUTCD and agency design standards to develop intersection signing & striping plans
  • Coordinate with other disciplines during the design process
  • Coordinate with electrical utility companies

Required Skills & Required Experience

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 0-3 years experience in electric systems including traffic signal and highway lighting engineering.
  • Ideal candidate would have interest in lighting analysis and lighting design
  • Familiarity with lighting design software a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code desirable
  • Familiarity with ITS technologies and wireless communications is a plus
  • Familiarity with NJDOT, NJTA and/or PANYNJ highway projects preferred but not required
