Dewberry's Raleigh, NC office is currently seeking an Entry Level Designer to support utility design and coordination efforts associated with civil engineering projects throughout North Carolina. This position will work in a multi-disciplined team environment with other designers, technicians, and professional engineers to prepare site/civil and utility relocation construction drawings. Designing will include use of CADD software packages (Civil 3D or MicroStation) and other software typical for the civil engineering industry.  Clients may include, but will not be limited to, NCDOT, GOTRIANGLE, universities, private utilities, federal government, municipal government, private land developers, industrial and telecommunications.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop site and grading plans with input from engineer.
  • Develop plan and profile piping drawings using CAD software.
  • Coordinate with third party utility companies to design facilities with input from Owner or NCDOT on easements and right-of-way.
  • Coordinate drawing sets for multi-disciplinary design team.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • 2 year technical degree from an accredited university is required.
  • 0-2 years of experience required.
  • Experience with CAD software and associated design software.
  • Experience with MICROSTATION/GEOPAK a plus.
  • Good communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and meticulous with details.
  • Desire to work in a civil engineering environment.
