    Senior Electrical Engineer


    The Bloomfield, NJ office of Dewberry is looking for a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer.  Qualified candidates should have a solid background in traffic signal design and implementation, electrical design, and roadway and outdoor lighting.   Proficiency in the use of the National Electric Code, AASHTO Roadway Lighting Design Criteria, and associated design manuals is expected.  Experience in the planning, engineering and design of ITS systems including communications and protocols (TCP/IP, IPv6), wireless communications, surveillance and detection, including video imaging, microwave/radar detection, and roadway sensors is desirable.

    Capacity to independently prepare Intersection and Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting designs and familiarity with one or more NJDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, PANYNJ, NJTA or TBTA design standards and practices is preferred. Good oral and written skills are a necessity. 



    • Leads analysis, design and preparation of electrical engineering elements and plans
    • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with mid and entry-level engineers, technicians and administrative staff.
    • Assists in determining project schedules, cost estimates, and budget requirements.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering; Master’s Degree in EE preferred
    • 10 to 15 years’ experience in electrical systems including traffic signal systems, highway lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems engineering
    • Previous design experience of roadway surveillance systems (CCTV, weather stations, weigh-in-motion sites, travel time systems, etc.) is desired.
    • Must demonstrate having been lead electrical designer for NJDOT, NJTA and/or PANYNJ highway projects. 
    • Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes is desired.
    • Familiarity with Visual and/or AGI lighting design software is preferred.
    • Ideal candidate would have experience preparing technical and cost proposals for the electrical design components of various highway projects, as well as supervising junior engineers in highway lighting report preparation, lighting analysis and lighting design, traffic signal design and communications systems design (wireless and fiber optic). 
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
    • Must be familiar with MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD.
    • New Jersey PE license is required.
    • Appropriate CISCO certification training will be sponsored
