Structural Engineering Project Manager  


Dewberry provides a wide range of engineering services to private and public sector clients, in the fields of telecommunications, transportation, building structures and water/wastewater . These services require significant structural engineering analysis and design support. One of our key structural teams is based in and lead from the Boston office. The role of this Project Manager is to lead the Boston structural engineering team in providing necessary support to our clients. A major focus of this role will be supporting our telecommunications practice with their structural engineering needs, along with supporting other practices.


  • Assigns tasks to engineers, technicians or administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of work.
  • Prepares scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Conducts quality control review of designs.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. in Structural Engineering, Master's Degree preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in the consulting engineering field, with at least 5 of those years in a leadership/management role
  • PE in Massachusetts (preferably in other states also), and the ability to obtain further PE licenses as necessary, within 6 months
  • Deep understanding of structural engineering and analysis for complex vertical structures including performing analysis and evaluation of existing structures, and rehabilitation/modification designs.
  • Working knowledge of building codes including: IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, NDS. Experience with TIA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry design.
  • Skilled in managing large scale structural design programs, with clients and team members in multiple geographies
  • Passion for quality
  • Superior management skills, in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in business development, with goal of identifying additional clients needing structural engineering support.
  • Working knowledge of the following structural packages: O-Calc, Enercalc, CSC Tedds, STAAD and SPBeam/Column/Mats/Slab
  • Experience with O-Calc / tnxTower is a plus
