Dewberry is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant to join the Construction Engineering and Field Services Department in the Washington DC - Fredericksburg Area to perform a variety of administrative functions in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join and support a team of outstanding professionals in a growing, multi-discipline group. Typical projects are diverse and require strong technical capabilities.


  • Sort and distribute mail, order supplies, and perform other duties as required.
  • Support Department managers, as well as professional and technical staff.
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports as needed.
  • Create, edit and maintain; forms, templates, reports, graphs, specifications, and letters in Microsoft office programs.
  • File and archive both electronic and hard copy documents.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain the schedule of the office conference rooms, and record meeting minutes as necessary


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • High school diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in an Engineering or Architectural firm is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
  • Ability to become proficient in company based computer software programs and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills surrounding customer relations and supporting others are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Understands the general nature of construction and contracting
  • This position requires flexibility in order to respond to various tasks and changing demands.
  • The successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, a desire to learn and grow within the firm, strong sense of professionalism, as well as the ability to take initiative.
