    Group Leader of Infrastructure Engineering – Civil, Bridge and Highway

     

    Dewberry has an opportunity for an experienced Department Manager to lead the combined Civil/Highway and Bridge design groups in our New York City, NY office.   This individual will lead a group of 30-35 engineers who provide professional services to numerous public agencies, leading the office’s practice in highway, street and bridge design.   This group leader of infrastructure engineering’s main responsibilities are to lead the combined group of highway and bridge staff, conduct aggressive and targeted business development activities to grow the group, winning projects of increasing complexity, and to act as a Project Manager for very large or mega projects that require seasoned management skills. Typical projects in the group involve city, state and regional clients in the transportation and transit market segments. The selected individual will be heavily involved in staff professional development, growth, retention and recruiting, significantly contribute to sales and revenue generation of the branch’s various infrastructure practices and act as client manager of several public agencies.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs, guides and inspires a staff of 30-35 project managers, engineers and technicians.
    • Partakes in actions to recruit, retain, develop and grow individual practitioners and teams.
    • Staffs project management teams with the right number and type of skill sets to contribute to successful delivery.
    • Collaborates proactively and productively with other groups and company offices across the Northeast operating unit.
    • Conducts business development activities and opportunity capture planning, proposal writing and oversight; expected to lead the client team for several infrastructure clients.
    • Responsible for operations that lead to meeting sales, revenue and profit goals.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • BS in Engineering with 20+ years of highway or bridge engineering and project management
    • Demonstrated project management success for sizeable project for the following agencies: NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYSDOT, MTA Bridges and Tunnels (TBTA) and PANYNJ.
    • MS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desirable
    • Professional Engineer in NY
    • Connections with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDDC and MTA agency capital project and program managers
    • Strong interpersonal and effective leadership skills
    • Proficiency using transportation design software preferred by NYC and NYS agencies is desirable
    • Local travel will be required
