    Dewberry is seeking a Traffic Engineer for our Traffic Engineering Department in Raleigh, NC. Candidates who are eager to learn will perform various traffic engineering tasks, ranging from data collection, plan preparation, traffic analyses and preparation of traffic reports. Projects range from traffic signal design, signal system design, work zone traffic control, signing and pavement marking and traffic impact analyses following state and municipal design standards and practices.     


    • Perform field investigations and data collection, including signal inventories, utility make-ready data collection and signing inventories.
    • Analyze traffic data
    • Perform intersection capacity analyses.
    • Prepare traffic reports.
    • Design Traffic Signals and signal timings per agency standards
    • Analyze roadway plans to develop construction staging concepts.
    • Prepare work zone traffic control plans.
    • Develop signing & pavement marking plans.
    • Estimate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
    • Coordinate with other disciplines during the design process.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
    • 2-5 years of related experienced.
    • Experience with traffic signal design preferred.
    • Experience with Microstation required.
    • Experience using traffic analysis software such as Synchro and HCS is desired.
    • Familiarity with ITS technologies is a plus.
    • Familiarity with NCDOT standards and practices is preferred but not required.
    • Proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Excellent communications skills and organization skills are required.
