    Dewberry is seeking a Commissioning Project Manager for our Costa Mesa, CA and Raleigh, NC office.

     

    Ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing Energy Solutions Commissioning projects, that will range in size and complexity, to achieve project deadlines and financial expectations.  This is a customer facing role that requires the coordination and management of both internal and external resources to deliver project expectations. This position will direct engineers, field personnel, subcontractors, and other technical support staff as needed.  Different project management functional areas of expertise may include Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, or This position will functionally report directly to a Unit Team Leader and will as well as related business development tasks such as generating fee proposals.  This position requires significant client interaction.  Significant tasks also include scheduling, document preparation, inspections and testing, report generation, problem resolution, quality assurance,  and development of sales opportunities.  Typically this position is filled by persons who have been continuously performing commissioning for 5 years or more, or by persons who can demonstrate a record of successful project execution and leadership according to Dewberry core principles and values.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

     

    • Significant tasks include scheduling, document preparation, inspections and testing, report generation, problem resolution, quality assurance, and development of sales opportunities.
    • Where required, negotiate with other offices or managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
    • Develop and apply risk identification and management tools – that are applicable to the type and complexity of the project.
    • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
    • Liaise with project stakeholders (Building Owners, Contractors, Architects, Engineers, and management) on an ongoing basis.
    • Apply Dewberry’s commissioning process guides as well as industry standards i.e. executing work according to applicable industry standards ASHRAE Guidelines “0” and “1” , Building Commissioning Association Guidelines for Commissioning, to ensure project quality delivery
    • Set and continually manage project expectations with project team members and other stakeholders.
    • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
    • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
    • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
    • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
    • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and develop contingency plans.
    • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
    • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
    • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
    • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
    • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    Required Skills:

     

     

    • Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering or similar technical discipline specific to HVAC.
    • Experience with energy projects, facility engineering, HVAC, assessment/planning, peer review, design and/or consulting services (HVAC and automated controls and/or construction/renovation projects is strongly preferred (functional expertise expectations will vary according to functional PM focus).
    • Commissioning Industry Certification (ANSI accredited) is preferred – Certified commission Professional (CCP).
    • Experience in Construction Administration and documentation procedures.
    • Direct Experience wth commercial HVAC systems, Buidlign Automation systems, and System Balancing.
    • Minimum of 5 years's of experience required.
    • Project Management Software, MS Project, Deltek Vision, or similar.
    • Demonstrated experience with HVAC Control, BAS, Energy Management systems and software is a MUST.
    • PE License is a plus.
    • PMP is strongly preferred.
    • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be highly proficient with a PC including the Microsoft Applications and project management applications/packages (MS Project and other risk management tools) and risk management tools.
    • Willingness to travel.
