    Dewberry currently performs work for several large transit, commuter, and freight railroads within the NY/NJ metropolitan area and is committed to expanding its role in the rail and transit market through the hiring of key talent, partnering and acquisition.  Dewberry is in search of a Senior Project Manager for our Rail/Transit Team. This opportunity involves developing and managing a variety of projects including feasibility studies and preliminary and final engineering for traditional design-bid-build as well as design/build projects.  As a Senior Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide local focus, direction and leadership to rail clients in Dewberry’s NE Region while partnering closely with corporate technical departments and area management. The ideal candidate will have proven success in leading staff and delivering various elements of rail and transit projects with  a minimum of 15 years of experience. The ideal candidate will combine design experience with the ability to coordinate the design of track, signal, communication, structural, and power disciplines with an understanding of railroad operations. A minimum of 8 years proven project management experience and the ability to demonstrate strong relationships with project owners and clients are strongly desired.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating staffing levels needed for projects
    • Managing projects and maintaining schedule, budget, and profitability of assigned projects
    • Overseeing preparation of plans and specifications
    • Coordinating with a multitude of in-house and subcontracted technical disciplines from remote office locations, including: planning, environmental, structures, hydraulics/drainage, traffic, signals, and communication for rail and transit initiatives
    • Assisting in the preparation of proposals in response to new RFPs and existing Task Order Contracts
    • Leading project pursuits in coordination with the Area Manager and local Business Development Manager

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering
    • PE registration in New York and New Jersey
    • 15 years of relevant design experience
    • 8 years of project management experience

    Other Qualifications

    • Experience managing successful, medium to large projects for agencies such as NJ TRANSIT, MTA (LIRR, NYCT, and MNR), Amtrak, etc.
    • Strategic thinker, with demonstrated collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and gain the support of others.  
    • Ability to work in a matrix organization while taking ownership and being accountable for projects.
    • Experience with local governments and contractors.
    • Strong interpersonal and effective leadership skills
    • Some travel will be required
