    Dewberry is currently seeking a talented Business Development Specialist for our Fairfax, VA office to help win contracts by conducting market research to uncover leads and identify new clients; work with seller/doers to develop sales initiatives and capture plans; maintain a strong network within Mid-Atlantic and Southeast agencies and the resilience contractor community to introduce technical staff to new clients and potential teaming partners; and assist in the creation of winning pursuit strategies and proposals. 

     

    This candidate will report directly to the RSG Group Manager.

     

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities will include:

     

    Support seller/doers with client research & lead development

    • Identify potential client contacts as assigned
    • Identify and research key client initiatives/programs/legislative initiatives
    • Conduct budget and procurement research
    • Identify and network with potential teaming partners
    • Contributes to development of group marketing plan
    • Participate on client visits with seller /doers to quantify specific proposal and contract opportunities as appropriate

     

    Network with internal stakeholders

    • Map identified opportunities to local offices and CMs/PMs
    • Conduct regular meetings with identified CMs/PMs to develop and execute capture plans

     

    Assist in the development of winning pursuits

    • Participate in strategy discussions & proactively identify positioning tactics
    • Identify and analyze potential competition
    • Actively participate during proposal development
      • Tailor materials for specific pursuits (e.g., project sheets, resumes, etc.)
      • Work with technical capture managers to create compelling win arguments

    Participate in promotional activities

    • Identify conferences and professional and trade organizations that would best promote resilience service offerings and identify opportunities
    • Identifies trends by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
    • Attend conferences to represent Dewberry and network with potential clients and teaming partners
    • Identify other promotional opportunities (e.g., forums, publications) for Dewberry to expand market presence

     

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • BA or BS Degree
    • 3-5 years BD experience in management consulting, program management or A/E industries
    • Outside sales/cold calling experience, market research, proposal development preferred
    • Working knowledge of state/local procurement and agency budgeting processes
    • Strong research, written/oral communication and networking skills
    • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
    • Travel is required for this position
