    Dewberry is currently seeking an Executive Vice President to join our National Programs group in our Fairfax, VA office.


    The National Programs Executive will be primarily responsible for the strategic development and growth, and overall operational performance of Dewberry’s National Program. Today Dewberry’s National Program business consists of 650 staff located in 10 locations across the United States. The business performs approximately $100M of revenue annually.  Priority will be on building capabilities, talent, market diversity and growing the client base in growth areas and service lines: Geospatial, Water Resource, Resiliency, Disaster Response and Recovery primarily in the Federal market and secondarily in the State/local markets.


    The successful candidate will have significant Federal market experience in developing and managing significant Federal portfolios. Additionally, the candidate will have a diverse background and evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities. The candidate will have clearly demonstrated expertise and success in managing and motivating multi-office, multiple discipline teams, developing and executing client and business development strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth, and partnering with internal and external partners. The selected candidate must understand and have in-depth public sector market knowledge and experience, client relationships in the Federal market and proven success in growing an engineering and consulting practice. The position will report to the President of Dewberry Engineers Inc., an operating company of the Dewberry Companies.

    Thorough understanding of the Federal market with specific focus, to include:

    • In depth knowledge of and strong relationships with Federal agencies, currently the firm has strong relationships and capabilities within FEMA, USGS, NOAA, USACOE and Classified Clients. Candidate would have a level of overlap with the firms existing clients.
    • Knowledge of Federal entities and decision-makers, above and beyond the entities identified above.
    • Strong network to access; key decision makers, external leadership and prospective colleagues and teaming partners, and A&E/Construction industry leaders.

     Must possess and exhibit strong leadership skills, including:

    • Strong communicator, motivator and influencer for managing an entrepreneurial initiative that will bridge current capabilities with a forward-looking vision of Dewberry’s future in the Federal and State/Local markets.
    • Able to co-create and share a common vision with Dewberry Senior leadership that invigorates client relationships and partnerships and motivates internal staff to identify new opportunities and market potential.
    • Politically astute and able to understand the business development and operational requirements in client relationships.
    • Able to interpret Dewberry strengths for cross-selling across service lines.
    • Able to work closely with a team of national peers and offer a willingness to learn and share knowledge.
    • Able to understand and articulate client needs and engage at C-suite level.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum 20 years of experience as business leader in Federal market working with clients and projects.
    • Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in managing a diverse technically based practice in multiple offices (600 – 1,000 staff) and a lead operational role with P&L responsibilities.
    • Bachelor Degree; an MBA a plus.
