    Dewberry is seeking a Master Electrician in our Fairfax, Virginia, office with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, principally for its water and wastewater planning, design, and construction administration practice. This is an opportunity for an individual to join a team of energetic, highly engaged professionals in Dewberry’s growing Water Service Line.


    • Assist with arc flash studies, including opening electrical distribution panels, enclosures, related equipment and affixing labels as necessary
    • Perform condition assessment and testing of major electrical equipment for water and wastewater treatment and pumping systems
    • Perform constructability and operability reviews from review of Contract Drawings, Specifications, Construction Cost Estimates, Reports and Studies
    • Perform reviews of industrial power design including low voltage electrical power distribution (medium voltage power distribution a plus), equipment sizing, and single line diagrams and equipment layouts
    • Working knowledge of motor controls design including development of control schematics and interlocks, variable frequency drives (VFDs), solid state reduced voltage (SSRV) starters, and supervisory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
    • Assist with construction phase services including electrical equipment submittal reviews, periodic site visits, start-up/check-out (SUCO)

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • 10 years of relevant experience
    • Master Electrician’s License.
    • Electrical and Instrumentation experience in an industrial setting, including water and wastewater treatment and pumping systems.
    • Extensive knowledge in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and industrial controls.
    • Knowledge of arc flash ratings and standards.
    • Experience with inspections of plant equipment to ensure electrical safety, reliability, and code compliance.
    • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes and Standards, and other related codes.
