    Dewberry is seeking experienced professional as a Resource Team Lead for our Fairfax, VA office.  This position will supervise our existing Geospatial Engineering and Applied Analytics team.  The candidate should have 8-15+ years of professional experience with GIS, Geospatial Analytics, Data Science and Application Development activities including supervising technical staff. This position will support a wide array of projects at the national, regional, and local scales. Candidates will have strong competencies and demonstrated experience using analytical, statistical and numerical techniques to conduct spatially-informed analyses. Candidates will possess proven technical and leadership capabilities to assess business needs, develop solutions, detail work processes, test outputs against the business requirements.  This is an excellent opportunity for an individual lead an existing high-performing team of professionals while working in a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm.  The position offers great potential for professional and leadership growth.

     

    Responsibilities

    Team Leadership responsibilities include:

    • Provide leadership in recruiting, training and building a strong team of technical professionals in developing innovative geospatial analytical products. 
    • Day-to-day supervision of Team staff in providing guidance, direction, and oversight of project delivery
    • Coordinating with the project team, fellow Resource Team Leads, Project Managers to develop project execution plan details, proactively develop solutions and creative methods to achieve results
    • Acting as a Task Manager to lead assigned project activities as delegated from Project Manager
    • Conducting administrative duties such as workload coordination, staff resourcing, conducting performance assessments, review/approval timesheets, expense reports and other similar duties.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    Technical responsibilities include:

    • Lead and/or collaborate on the development of national scale geospatial analytical modeling efforts.
    • Lead and/or collaborate on geospatial data collection, development, processing, cleaning, and validation.
    • Lead and/or develop scripts to automate data input preparation, process implementation and structure output format.
    • Conceive, oversee and/or implement quality control processes for geospatial analyses products and services.
    • Innovate methods to expedite and streamline large geospatial analytic processes.
    • Coordinate with the internal and external stakeholders to collect requirements, inform analyses, and develop presentations of results.
    • Communicate effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing, analytical results to internal and external stakeholders, including developing graphics.

    Required Skills: Must have experience that demonstrates ability to lead and supervise a team of professionals.  Must also possess strong background in the application of geospatial analyses utilizing GIS and skills to execute efficient solutions.

    • Bachelors (Masters preferred) degree in GIS, Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or any quantitatively related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Deep experience in geospatial processing and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and PostGIS and ESRI products: ArcObjects, ArcGIS, ArcServer, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ArcEngine
    • Strong experience in designing, implementing and programming geospatial algorithms using software packages such as R, Python, C++ (including packages such as pandas, Numpy, SciPy, etc.).
    • Proficiency with developing in multiple languages/ protocols (ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, XML, Python, PHP, JSON, HTML5)
    • Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL, Access, and PostgresQL.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, D3.js, and Visual.ly
    • Knowledge of geospatial web services, including WCS, WMS, WFS, and Esri web services.
    • Innovation, enthusiasm, and creativity - ability to develop new ideas and to chart a path.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills utilizing GIS and presenting results orally and with supporting multi-media tools such as StoryMap
    • Strong proficiency MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access).
