    Construction Managers

    Dewberry is currently seeking Construction Managers to work on highway, bridge and utility infrastructure projects in the District of Columba and Maryland. The Construction Manager function is to monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance requirements are being met by team(s) of inspectors and/or office engineers.  The size and complexity of construction projects will vary.  Successful candidates should have  construction management and inspection experience with demonstrated supervisory and project management skills.  Prior experience with local municipalities and public and private utility companies is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitors operations and oversees inspection personnel to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract terms and specifications
    • Coordinates and schedules various phases of construction inspection with the contractor, owner representatives and other agencies
    • Reviews and monitors contractor’s plan of operation including phasing and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans
    • Advises contractors of violations and reviews and recommends approval of corrective measures
    • Identifies necessary changes to construction plans to meet field conditions
    • Reviews field measurements of pay items and materials testing records
    • Reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.

    Required Skills & Required Experience

    • Minimum 6 years of construction management and quality assurance/quality control inspection experience that exhibit growth in responsibilities and capabilities
    • Communicate effectively with inspection staff, agency and/or owner personnel, general contractors and subcontractors and the general public
    • Working skills in operating computers and field office equipment and using software programs and systems for documenting the quality records during construction.
    • Working knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
    • Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and utility plans and contract specifications
    • Knowledge of all elements of roadway, street and utility construction methods, materials, standards and specifications
    • Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to confirm extent of necessary field adjustments
    • Ability to drive assigned and/or personal vehicles within roadways and project sites to perform construction management and supervisory activities
