Electrical Engineers


Dewberry is currently searching for highly qualified professionals with prior FEMA Public Assistance (PA) experience.  Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and able to successfully pass a Federal background investigation which includes disclosing personal information such as criminal, credit, residential, employment, social and medical history.  Applicants with an active FEMA badge or Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) clearance are encouraged to apply. Selected candidates must be able to commit to a minimum 120-day assignment in remote locations working in excess of 50 hours per week. Additionally, candidates must be disciplined and able to work from home, if required.




Disaster Specialists must be ready to travel to disaster sites to support FEMA's response and recovery missions, but also be flexible and disciplined to work remotely from home, if needed. They will assist local government agencies and other Program-eligible entitles in the preparation of grant applications for the restoration of a variety of damaged public infrastructure to include roads, bridges, buildings and utilities. The work may include but is not limited to: site assessments of disaster-damaged infrastructure; documenting damages and developing restoration scopes of work, formulating detailed and accurate cost estimates, and assisting with hazard mitigation planning.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time professional experience in electric design, management or construction of electric utilities, power supply and distribution, emergency backup power generators and ATS replacements and installation, building electrical systems, and/or communication, data, fire alarm and security systems
  • Must have working knowledge of current electrical codes and standards such as the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Manufacturers Association (NEMA)
  • Prior FEMA Public Assistance experience preferred: Program Delivery Manager, Site Inspector, Policy Advisor, Cost Estimator, FEMA Certified Trainer, Hazard Mitigation Specialist (Sections 404/406); or
  • Knowledge of the FEMA Public Assistance Program
  • Candidates trained in new FEMA PA delivery model are preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word and Excel) and FEMA proprietary software
  • Experience using FEMA Grants Management Portal preferred
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment under stressful conditions
  • Ability to work 8-12 hours/day, 5-6 days a week
  • Must have a clean driving record and able to maintain a valid driver's license in order to operate a company, personal, or rental vehicle
