Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager in our Charlotte, NC office. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in the continued growth of our current business by maintaining existing clients and developing new clients and projects as well as leading a range of civil engineering projects for public sector utilities clients (water and wastewater).


The successful candidate will have a diverse background and extensive technical experience and client interaction in water/wastewater infrastructure projects. Successful candidate will be capable of leading water/wastewater engineers and technicians and managing varied sized infrastructure projects.  With support from the enterprise, successful candidate will be capable of participating in business development activities, pursuing new clients and potential project leads, preparing proposals and preparing price proposals and contracts.

  • Business development activities, including client management.
  • Proposal preparations and fee development.
  • Quality Control and mentoring of less experienced staff.
  • Project Management of water and wastewater design projects.
  • Create scope of work for projects.
  • Managing engineering work and interface with other disciplines as needed.
  • Visit clients, job sites and consultant offices as needed to support project and business development needs.
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas.
  • Pump station design, inflow and infiltration studies, hydraulic modeling, collection system condition assessment and design, water distribution and storage, with potential opportunities to engage on treatment projects.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field is required, advanced degree preferred.
  • NC Professional Engineering license is required.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in water/wastewater infrastructure engineering.
  • Successful track record of maintaining relationships with clients in the Charlotte market.
  • Project management experience for both study-level and design/construction projects.
  • Water/wastewater treatment experience is a plus.
  • A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule and budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business development skills.
  • Strong leadership / mentoring qualities.
