Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for our New Orleans, LA office. Typical projects involve hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater mitigation, stormwater design, water and wastewater design, storm water master plans, mitigation planning, surface water assessment, and storm water quality in order to assist federal, state and local clients.

Responsibilities

Candidates will work with experienced staff to create and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models and other surface water resource issues. Candidates will also conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling and floodplain delineations using GIS-based engineering and mapping tools.   • Develop strong client relationships in a Project Manager and Client Manager role.
  • Lead multi-disciplined teams of professionals on large design projects.
  • Lead strategy and capture planning on pursuits of large design projects.
  • Candidate should be able to perform engineering analysis; develop preliminary and detailed designs of stormwater facilities; and write specifications and construction documents.
  • Manage, lead, execute, and/or provide technical support for resilience, water resources, and hazard mitigation projects within the municipal, regional, and Federal markets.
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Knowledge of USACE, La DOTD, FEMA, AWWA standards and procedures for design.
  • Progressive experience conducting business development and project delivery for stormwater and resilience projects in coastal and interior drainage communities, including Stormwater Pump Stations, flood control channels and tide gates is a plus.
  • Knowledge of coastal engineering design, such as revetments, groins, beach nourishment, marsh creation, bulkheads, breakwaters, and dredging is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hydrodynamic modeling programs such as PC-SWMM, MIKE, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), is a plus.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. or MS Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related engineering field), with emphasis in water resources.
  • 5+ years’ water resources-related experience.
  • Team player.
  • LA P.E. License, or ability to obtain a LA PE through comity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
  • Knowledge/experience with ESRI Arc GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, AutoCAD.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic MS Office software.
