This position offers tremendous potential for professional growth in a great working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to help our clients solve their most challenging problems.  You would serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of transportation and traffic engineering specialization that addresses the transportation challenges in the Boston metropolitan area as well as contribute to the success of major infrastructure projects throughout the United States.

 

Qualified candidates should be familiar with HCM methodologies, microsimulation platforms such as VISSIM and AIMSUN, conducting traffic analysis/studies utilizing Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, and similar analysis tools.  Familiarity with agency standards and protocols including MassDOT and local municipalities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary contact between local municipal and state clients.
  • Lead and/or conduct traffic engineering tasks including, traffic impact analysis, developing data collection programs, conduct intersection improvement and corridor studies for the Boston office.
  • Lead traffic simulation modeling tasks in VISSIM is a plus.
  • Coordinate with other departments and offices on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate and assist Dewberry’s Northeast Regional practice with traffic related projects.
  • Engage in business development activities related to project pursuits and preparing statements of qualifications and proposals.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in traffic engineering field.
  • PE registration in Massachusetts is required or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. PTOE certification is a plus.
  • Experience with complete streets and active transportation projects. Transit planning experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with traffic analysis software including HCS, Synchro and VISSIM.
  • Experience with MassDOT design policies and procedures is required.
  • Local Experience with municipalities is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with other Northeast agencies such as New Jersey Turnpike Authority, NJDOT, Port Authority of NY/NJ, NYSDOT, NYCDOT is a plus.
  • A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position.  A clean driving record is required.
  • May provide support for transportation projects in other Occasional travel may be required.
