Job Description

Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for a  Deputy Project Manager and/or Project Engineer with minimum 5 years of experience with an emphasis on the design and construction of stormwater and flood control projects in urban environments. The ideal candidate will serve as Project Manager and/or Project Engineer on planning, engineering, and construction of stormwater infrastructure and large-scale flood resilience related projects. The Project Manager will also participate in the development of proposals, lead business development, present at conferences, participate in professional organizations, and will have the opportunity to grow nationally. The Project Manager will be involved in managing a team of engineers to execute various projects within New York area and will play a critical role to support Dewberry’s National Resilience Growth Initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate should be able to perform engineering analysis; develop preliminary and detailed designs of water infrastructure including, but not limited to, green infrastructure, BMPs, hydraulic control structures, drainage conveyance system, pump stations, flood control system and others; write specifications; and develop construction documents.
  • Be the water resources engineer of record on projects.
  • Support leadership to develop a team of professionals that delivers multi-disciplinary flood resilience projects.
  • Develop strong client relationships.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of professionals on planning and design related projects.
  • Lead strategy and capture planning on pursuits for stormwater and flood resilience related planning and design projects.
  • Manage, lead, execute, and/or provide technical support for resilience, water resources, and hazard mitigation projects within the municipal, regional, and federal markets.
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS or MS degree preferably in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in water resources and/or environmental engineering).
  • 5+ years of experience in water resources (hydrology and hydraulic modeling), green infrastructure, conveyance system, stormwater infrastructure design, flood resilience, and flood control system components
  • Professional Engineer License and ability to apply for reciprocity in various states
  • Demonstrated experience as an engineer of record for built projects.
  • Progressive experience conducting business development and project delivery for stormwater and flood resilience projects in urban environments (coastal, riverine/fluvial and pluvial)
  • Knowledge of NYCDEP, NYSDEC, USACE and FEMA and similar agencies standards and procedures for design.
  • Candidate must have strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience using GIS and CAD programs such as ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation and others.
  • Experience using H&H modeling programs such as Infoworks ICM, MIKE, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM and others.
  • Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), is a plus.
  • Knowledge of coastal engineering is a plus.
  • A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
