Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Land Surveyor in Training, in our Gainesville, VA office, to ensure the preparation of accurate and complete work products, perform quality control reviews of design plans, and perform complex technical survey design tasks. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, daily coordination with project managers, and key office staff, and assist in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, platting, right-of-way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, construction and as-built surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist multiple project managers with all aspects of project management.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and contracts.
  • Provide guidance and direction to office staff and field crew(s).
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, office & field coordinators with daily workload, schedules, and project needs.
  • Evaluate policy & procedures to ensure all deliverables are done accurately and using the most efficient method.
  • Work closely with the survey department manager.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members including other offices and business units.
  • Assist with managing project budgets and financials.
  • Consulting with clients.
  • Assist with maintaining monthly project invoicing.
  • Coordinate vehicle requirements, needs, and maintenance with logistics.
  • Monitor corporate safety protocols.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Must be a licensed Land Surveyor in Training or Land Surveyor
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must have a High School Diploma.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
  • Must be proficient with all aspects of computing, drafting procedures, and the importance of CAD standards.
  • Proficient with the preparation of the preparation and quality review of easements, right-of-way plats, and legal descriptions.
  • Proficient with Civil3D, Carlson Survey, Carlson SurvCE and Trimble Access and Business Center software is a plus.
  • Proficient with Bentley (Microstation) skills is a plus.
  • Experience with MD SHA surveys is a plus.
  • Experience with laser scanning is a plus.
  • Experience with 3D survey drawings a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to pass a driving record background check.
