Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our growing Water Resource Engineering practice within our Denver, CO office. Typical projects involve hydrologic modeling (from minor local areas to multiple large basins); hydraulic modeling (from inlet and culvert capacity to floodplain and floodway modeling); planning and design of local and regional stormwater facilities (including but not limited to storm sewers, detention facilities, drop structures, bank protection, and channel restoration); and drainage studies (from minor site drainage reports to master plan baseline hydrology, deficiencies and alternatives).

Dewberry offers a comprehensive and very competitive package of insurance programs to regular full-time employees and their eligible dependents the first of the month following their date of hire. The insurance package includes: medical, dental, vision, and supplemental life. Additional insurances, at no cost to the employee: life (employee only), accidental death and dismemberment, business travel and accident, and short- and long-term disability are also provided. Responsibilities

  • Hydrologic modeling including data prep and analysis of inputs, basin delineations, basin hydrology, and routing using GIS based programs, when appropriate
  • Hydraulic modeling including geometry analysis and modifications through CAD and/or GIS based programs, hydraulic analysis of a variety of situations, and result analysis and documentation
  • Various water resource engineering calculations for analysis and ultimately sizing of infrastructure
  • Plan production of capital improvement projects of various sizes using CAD based programs based on the results of engineering calculations
  • Report writing of various requirements (including but limited to drainage reports, erosion control reports, master plan studies, CLOMR/LOMR, and other various memorandums necessary)
  • Perform field work whenever required

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. Degree or higher in Civil Engineering (or related Engineering field), emphasis in stormwater conveyance or water resources is preferred
  • 0-3 years related experience
  • Prior experience with MHFD and/or Front Range municipalities manuals, design spreadsheets, and criterion is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience/class work with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS and hydraulic computer models such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and CUHP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and Proficiency in MS Office software
  • Valid driving license required

The projected range for this position is $78,144 - $80,644 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
