Dewberry is currently seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as a Hydrologic and Hydraulic/Water Resources Engineer for floodplain studies and H&H Reports to support our transportation and water resources projects. The position offers great potential for professional growth in a fantastic working environment and the opportunity to interact directly with the clients.  Candidates will create, analyze and review hydrologic and hydraulic models and computations for transportation, and write the Hydrologic and Hydraulic Reports including developing and submitting CLOMR and LOMR applications through FEMA.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, using a variety of techniques and models (e.g., HEC-HMS, regression equations, gage analyses, SWMM, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, scour analysis by HEC-18 and HEC-23).
  • Prepare written reports, documenting the hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for the existing conditions, proposed bridge or culvert replacement and any temporary construction conditions.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters a plus. Degrees in Civil or Water Resources Engineering are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience required, experience as a Project Manager a plus.
  • Must be familiar with the production of floodplain maps and FEMA's Flood Insurance Program. Certified Floodplain Manager certification (CFM) is a plus.
  • Experience in stormwater management design in Virginia.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor junior staff required.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • E.I.T. certification required, VA P.E. preferred
