Responsibilities

In this role, you will deploy to a disaster site to support FEMA in the delivery of a disaster recovery program. As a Commercial Property Insurance Professional, you will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting insurance policies to determine coverage for reported losses. Your role will include conducting thorough inspections of commercial properties. You will document the extent of the damage through detailed notes, photographs, and relevant supporting evidence, ensuring all findings are aligned with policy terms.   

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Have an active insurance claim adjustor National Flood Insurance Program certification.
  • A minimum of five years of combined experience in commercial and residential insurance claim/case processing including customer service, data entry, reviewing, and evaluating various types of disaster related losses.
  • Policy Interpretation: Ability to understand and interpret complex insurance policy and federal policy language, including relevant statutes, regulations, policies, guidance, and directions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Disaster-related knowledge and background to accurately assess losses, damages, repairs, and replacement costs.
  • Clear and Effective Communication: Customer service, excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and ability to explain policy and regulations to claimants, FEMA staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Use of Technology: Proficiency in using claims management software, databases, and other technology tools that facilitate claim processing, documentation, and communication. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must have strong interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen capable of passing a federal background investigation to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
