Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Geologist with 3-5 years of experience for our New York City office. The position will perform a variety of environmental sampling and reporting functions in support of site investigation and remediation assignments in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Project Geologist must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers. The work required by the Geologist is diverse and ranges from general field support during soil and groundwater sampling, remedial construction oversight to technical work that requires strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Practice Leads and Management.
  • Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
  • Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
  • Handles multiple concurrent projects.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a scientific field.
  • Meets project, client and regulatory deadlines.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
  • Working knowledge of NYSDEC regulations and guidance a must.
  • Knowledge of NYCDEP, NJDEP Tech Regs, and/or PADEP site remediation requirements a plus.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.
  • knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation and/or ArcGIS, Bentley software products a plus.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour annual refresher training required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $69,125 to $88,875 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
