Dewberry is currently seeking a Water / Wastewater Project Engineer to work in our Denver, CO office on water and wastewater projects locally and nationwide for public sector utility clients. Responsibilities

  • Work as a project engineer on municipal water and wastewater projects executing planning, design, and construction assignments. Work may also include serving as a project manager on small to medium-sized projects.
  • Work in a team environment to execute work with project managers, other project engineers, technical support, junior staff, and subconsultants to implement fully functioning project designs. Provide mentoring to project staff and entry level engineers.
  • Assist project manager with the planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing of the work of the project team, including: environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/controls engineers; drafters, technicians; technical experts; and subconsultants.
  • Perform data analysis, system modeling, and hydraulic calculations to size and select facilities.
  • Perform field work in support of design such as project site walks, dimension verifications, limited condition assessment, and client/contractor site meetings.
  • Prepare bid documents (drawings and specifications), reports, calculations, and project deliverables and review the design of others.
  • Support permitting, easement, right-of-way, and other documentation and approvals as required.
  • Work in a team environment to leverage assets of the Water Service Line to position, win, execute, and deliver work.
  • Work for the successful delivery of projects and client satisfaction (schedule, financial, and quality).
  • Assist with the development of statement of qualifications, detailed proposals, and contracts to include project understanding, scope of work, pricing, schedule, and other terms and conditions; and follow through with development/implementation of a project execution plan.
  • Increase Dewberry’s visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in national, state, and local professional and community organizations.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering is required. Master’s Degree in Engineering is a plus.
  • Colorado Professional Engineer license acquired or the ability to do so within 1 year of hire required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of water/wastewater infrastructure projects including work in at least one of the following focus areas:
    • Large diameter pipelines
    • Pump stations
    • Lift stations
    • Water treatment facilities
    • Wastewater treatment facilities
  • Proven success delivering projects on time, within budget, and correctly.
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining strong client relationships, with a reputation for being highly responsive and delivering quality work.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven experience with project planning, design, and construction phase services.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
