Dewberry maintains a cadre of skilled professional and technical staff in an on-call capacity to support disaster recovery work across the United States. We are currently searching for highly qualified Supply Chain Planners to support these projects. As one of our Disaster Specialists, you will collaborate with some of the best and brightest in the industry and use your expertise to support critical recovery efforts in disaster-impacted communities. This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to use their knowledge, skills and abilities to help disaster survivors at disaster recovery operation work sites throughout the United States and its territories. 

 

*Please note, remote work is not permitted for this role. This is a non‑full‑time, deployment‑based on-call position supporting disaster relief efforts across the United States. Team members are deployed to impacted sites as needed and may travel frequently on short notice. While the role requires physical presence at various disaster locations, it is not tied to a single office or fixed worksite.

Responsibilities

Selected Planners will travel to disaster-impacted locations and support FEMA with housing mission planning and/or Supply Chain Analysis.  Examples of planning tasks may include:  

  • Supply Chain Analytics
  • Pre-mission Transportation Planning (Movement of Housing Units across Country)
  • Permit Planning (Transportable Temporary/Manufactured Housing Units)
  • Pre-mission Installation Planning (Site Assessments, Construction/Permitting Requirements and Stakeholder Identification)
  • Site Preparation Planning (Placement of Temporary/Permanent Housing Units)
  • Utility Coordination/Hookup Planning
  • Interstate Documentation
  • Inspection Planning Support
  • Local Resource Planning Support
  • Multifamily Lease and Repair Program (MLRP) Reconnaissance
  • Interfacing with Local Jurisdictions (Elected Officials, Decision Makers, Planning Commissioners, and Support Staff)
  • Development of Housing Plans  
  • Strategic, Operational and Tactical Planning, and Policy Development

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field from accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in disaster housing operation.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred but not required. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and planning experience related to transportation, housing and site projects.
  • Experience related to transporting and/or installing temporary housing units or manufactured homes is preferred.
  • Experience with factory-built housing, manufactured housing units or manufactured home industry preferred. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of FEMA's Individual Assistance (IA) and Disaster Housing Mission Planning is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and research skills. 
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work independently, remotely, and in team environment under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to deploy for a minimum of twelve (12) months in remote locations working in excess of 50 hours per week
  • Must have a clean driving record and able to maintain a valid driver's license in order to operate a company, personal, or rental vehicle
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation to include criminal and driver's history.

Certain positions are also eligible to receive overtime pay, whereas all non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime (subject to approval).

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $90 to $100 hourly. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
